Frank Shorter Marathon Split Short 3" Inseam

Comfortable, perfect liner, good pocket space for keys and gels on rear of waistband. Wide waistband adds extra comfort. Flat waist ties easy to tie and untie. Best value for money shorts that I have encountered in many years of running.

Great running shorts

These shorts are a good length for serious runners that want something in between the usual split shorts that reveal too much and 5” inseam shorts that are too baggy. Honestly, the liner isn't that bad and hasn’t thonged up on me yet. I’ve put a lot of miles in these and they’ve been great so far. The back zipper pocket works as it should and there’s nothing to complain about with the drawstring, it’s a drawstring. If you’re getting tangled up in a drawstring, I don’t think its the shorts fault. It would be kinda nice if there were more color options to choose from, thats the only qualm I have.

Bad quality liner sizing varies from short to short

Everything about these shorts are great except the liners seem to have a quality issue with sizing. A pair of Large (pick a size) will have either a liner the size of a thong or a liner that is normal sized. I have had to buy -try on -and return several pairs due to this defect, I thought they would correct it by now but it seems worse, only the “blue” color shorts seem to have somewhat normal consistent liner size

Frank Shorter Running Shorts

The shorts are comfortable, launder and dry well (especially running in wet weather). I’m not happy with the way the drawstring is attached: it is sewn at the back side, and only folded beneath elastic until halfway around each side, where it enters a sewn “channel” to reach holes to emerge in front. It seems too easy for the cord to pull out enough to flop around and get accidentally pulled out while inserting legs. I would recommend loops (like belt loops) sewn on the elastic every couple inches to keep cord reasonably secured.
